On Friday, April 21. activity related to the STEM garden and active citizenship was held in Primary school Lučko as part of the Be a STEMfluencer project.
The Kick off conference of the project Be a STEMfluencer was held on March 2nd 2023 in the Primary school Lučko who acts as the Project Promoter on behalf of five project partners. The project worth 734,405.40 euros is financed through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area in the ratio of 85%, while the rest of the funds were provided by the Republic of Croatia within of the Local Development and Poverty Reduction Programme.
Students form Primary school Lučko visited the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotic Technologies known as CRTA at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Shipbuilding within extracurricular activities "Robotics" and "3D modeling that are planned in the project "Be a STEMfluencer".
The Eureka Science Festival was held on 1st December 2022. with the aim of bringing science closer to students, and to all other visitors to whom scientific topics were presented in an accessible and interesting way, with a lot of interactivity where visitors were active participants, not just observers. Thus, students could experience the role of a forensic scientist and try their hand at research methods used in investigations, such as blood group determination, fingerprinting, hair microscopy or determining a person's height using the length of the femur.
Four teachers from the partner school Lučko participated in a workshop on making natural cosmetics called "House of Magical Grass" at family farm Jakopović in Novi Marof. This is one of many workshops/educations planned within this project to strengthen the competences of school teachers od Primary school Lučko.
Association Plant a tree, don't be a stump! launched a national tree planting project whose goal is planned to plant trees, especially fruit trees of autochthonous varieties and preserve their gene pool. By participating in the project, students learn about the importance of preserving green areas, enriching them and generally reducing the harmful impact on the environment. In less than two years, 75,000 participants took part in the campaign, and more than 200,000 trees were planted.
As part of the "Be a STEMfluencer" project activities, the Project promoter – Primary school Lučko gathered students who are enthusiastic in astronomy, stargazing, looking at the sky and beyond. Students of the seventh and eighth grades visited Zagreb Observatory in the upper town where they learned more about the characteristics of the Sun, the universe, and the stars and wondered if we were alone in the universe.
Students of Primary School Vugrovec-Kašina observed a solar eclipse, a celestial phenomenon that occurs when the Moon "gets in the way" between the Earth and the Sun. The solar eclipse must not be observed without special glasses or filters for which the school has provided the necessary equipment for their small observers. The eclipse began 25 October around 11:20 am, peaked an hour later and lasted until 1:34 pm. At the peak of the eclipse, 1/3 of the Sun's visible surface was darkened.
