Students of Primary School Vugrovec-Kašina observed a solar eclipse, a celestial phenomenon that occurs when the Moon "gets in the way" between the Earth and the Sun. The solar eclipse must not be observed without special glasses or filters for which the school has provided the necessary equipment for their small observers. The eclipse began 25 October around 11:20 am, peaked an hour later and lasted until 1:34 pm. At the peak of the eclipse, 1/3 of the Sun's visible surface was darkened.
However, it seems that the sky had mercy on our STEMfluencers because the clouds parted, the Sun became increasingly visible just at the right time, when the eclipse was at its peak. If you are interested to see more about this event and what we recorded please look in the photo gallery on the school website http://os-kasina-zmaj.com.hr/2022/10/25/pomrcina-sunca-uhvacena-u-vugrovcu/. This project activity took place under the professional guidance of the school teacher Nina Rezo with the special contribution of the 7th grade student Jakov Stjepanović who was the main "master" of recording. The next significant solar eclipse is expected in 2026, and the complete eclipse only in 2081.
